ABOUT GURUMAN DANCERS
Guruman (meaning Kangaroo in Butchella language) Aboriginal Dance Group formerly known as Badjtala Nangarim have performed at:
Woodford Folk Festival 201...4/15, Brisbane Exhibition (Ekka) 2014 & 2015, Byron Bay Blues & Roots Festival, NRL Indigenous All Stars Festival, The The Lord Mayors NAIDOC Celebrations Brisbane, Zillmere Cultural Festival, Clancestry Closing Ceremony, Youth Week 2013, Queensland Reds Opening Ceremony Indigenous Round 1st June 2013, Opening Ceremony Australasian Performing Arts Market 2014 as well at many corporate events.
Members of the group hail from many First Nations Tribal groups from the east coast of Australia including Badjtala, Garawa, Waanyi, Yanuwa, Gungurri, Yugarapul, Birri Gubba, Wiradjuri & Goomeroi. Several members of the group have performed nationally and internationally including in Denmark, U.S.A, Canada, Hawaii, Korea, Russia, Vatican City to name just a few countries.
The aim of Guruman Aboriginal Dance Group is language and cultural revitalization and preservation through traditional and contemporary practice of dance and language.
